  • HIVMA Endorses Legislation to Expand Patient Access to Non-Physician Medicaid Providers

    In a letter to Senator Daniel Inouye, HIVMA Board Chair Kathleen Squires, MD expressed HIVMA's support and endorsement of his bill, the "Medicaid Advanced Practice Nurses and Physician Assistants Access Act of 2011" (S.56). The bill would expand access to Medicaid providers, including providers engaged in HIV care, by amending title XIX of the Social Security Act to include nurse practitioners, certified nurse-midwives, physician assistants, and certified registered nurse anesthetics as service providers in state Medicaid programs.
