HIVMA sent a letter regarding the mission and upcoming work of the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction outlining four prinicpals to protect investments critical to our nation’s health.
This is a critical moment in the fight to end the HIV epidemic. Scientific research findings now unequivocally show that early access to effective HIV care and treatment improves health outcomes for people with HIV and significantly reduces HIV transmission. The first ever National HIV/AIDS Strategy provides a roadmap for reducing HIV infections, increasing access to care, and addressing health disparities, and healthcare reform will help make these goals a reality. Cuts to Medicaid, Medicare and other health programs that support HIV/AIDS prevention and care and treatment will set us back in the battle against HIV disease.
