How to Nominate a Colleague
Nominations for the HIVMA Leadership Awards are due April 15. Self-nominations are discouraged. Nominators and nominees must be members of HIVMA.
HIV Research Award
Submission Requirements
Nominators should address each of the following criteria in a detailed letter, including examples when appropriate.
- Demonstration of independent research (as evidenced by ability to obtain grant funding)
- Productivity (as evidenced in publications in peer-reviewed journals)
- Innovation and originality
- Impact on the field of HIV research
Additional Instructions
- Please include the nominee’s curriculum vitae, which should include research grant awards, and bibliography.
- At least one seconding letter from an HIVMA member other than the nominee is required.
- Standing HIVMA Board and Award Committee members are not eligible.

HIV Clinical Educator Award
Submission Requirements
Nominators should address each of the following criteria in a detailed letter, including examples when appropriate. Preference will be given to nominations that reflect a broad base of support.
- Demonstration of impact outside of one’s own institution or outreach to a group with unmet needs
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching
- Description of what audience was affected by the clinician educator and how they were affected-- whether inside or outside of the usual academic setting
- Evidence of originality and innovation in the area of clinical education. Please include no more than two examples of a curriculum, manuscript, book chapter or other educational materials that the nominee has developed
- Recognition in the area of patient care

- Please include the nominee’s curriculum vitae, which should describe with examples how the candidate meets the requirements of the award.
- At least one seconding letter from an HIVMA member other than the nominee is required.
