04/30/2013The
U.S. Preventive Services Task Force’s final recommendation that HIV screening
be a routine part of medical care marks a critical step forward in our efforts
to identify those who are infected with HIV and link them with lifesaving care
and treatment. As HIV clinicians and scientists, we urge providers and health
care systems to quickly incorporate HIV testing into patients’ regular medical
care.

(HIVMA), and the National Alliance of

02/14/2013Bipartisan legislation introduced
today by members of Congress is an important step forward in exploring the use
of HIV‐infected organ donation as a potentially lifesaving measure for people
living with HIV. As HIV physicians, scientists, and other health care
professionals on the frontlines of the HIV/AIDS pandemic, we strongly support
the HIV Organ Policy Equity (HOPE) Act and applaud the bill’s bipartisan co-sponsors—Sens.
Barbara Boxer, Tom Coburn, Rand Paul, Tammy Baldwin, and Rep. Lois Capps—for
their leadership on this issue.
