ROUTINE HIV SCREENING: A REVIEW OF THE EVIDENCE FROM 2007 TO 2010
Since the USPSTF conducted its
focused update of the evidence on routine HIV screening in 2007: earlier
initiation of antiretroviral treatment has become the standard of care for HIV
disease; much more is known about the serious long‐term risks of delaying
antiretroviral therapy; routine HIV testing programs have successfully been
implemented in a variety of settings; and most states have revised their laws
or regulations to support opt‐out routine HIV testing.
