Cahaba Family Medicine

National HIV Clinical Training Tracks in Primary Care Residency Programs (HTR) at Cahaba Medical Care is a federally supported program that equips primary care residents and advanced practice trainees to deliver comprehensive HIV care within community-based settings. Through structured curriculum, mentored clinical experience, and systems-based training, HTR builds workforce capacity, expands access in underserved areas, and integrates HIV management into routine primary care practice.

PGY-4 HIV Fellowship

Fellows train in a Ryan White–supported FQHC managing ART initiation, viral suppression, PrEP, STI care, and hepatitis B and C treatment.

Training also includes specialty experience at the 1917 Clinic at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, one of the nation’s longstanding HIV centers and a regional referral site for complex care.
