Membership connects health care professionals practicing HIV medicine to our broader community of ID and to our collective voice that speaks authoritatively on issues facing health care providers, researchers, and their patients. From prevention, access to treatment, and clinical guidelines, to funding for HIV research, the Ryan White Program, and building the HIV workforce: together as HIVMA we act for a comprehensive and humane response to the HIV pandemic and we invite you to join in our work.

  • HIVMA convenes the Ryan White Medical Providers Coalition to address critical policy and program issues that affect providers’ ability to deliver HIV care and treatment in communities across the country
  • HIVMA advocates for prevention, treatment, criminal law, and other policies that are grounded in science, including harm reduction programs, such as syringe access programs
  • HIVMA is working to expand the capacity of the HIV medical workforce and address shortages of experienced HIV providers that could thwart access to lifesaving care for people living with HIV

Membership Types

Student/Resident Member

Medical Students and Residents with an interest in HIV are welcome to join HIVMA to explore a potential career in the field of infectious diseases focusing on HIV medicine.

Associate Member

Work in the field of HIV medicine and do not have specific pos-graduate training, join HIVMA as an associate member.

Criteria for Eligibility

  • Primary professional activities/interests in HIV medicine

Full Member

If the majority of your professional activities are in HIV medicine and you have a related speciality below, join HIVMA as a full member.

Criteria for Eligibility

  • Primary professional activities/interests in HIV medicine
  • Nurse practitioner or Physician assistant OR
  • Doctoral level training (MD, DO, PharmD, and/or PhD)
