HIVMA Congratulates Leandro Mena, MD, MPH, on Appointment as Director of CDC’s Division of STD Prevention

 

HIVMA is thrilled to congratulate Dr. Leandro Mena on his appointment as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Director of STD Prevention. He is a preeminent clinician and researcher in sexually transmitted infections and HIV and a leader in developing programs and policies responsive to the needs of disproportionately impacted populations, including LGBTQ+ populations and Black, indigenous and other people of color. At a time when sexually transmitted infections are increasing at alarming rates, his experience and expertise will help to strengthen and advance strategies to control this serious and under-recognized infectious diseases epidemic.
